Composting and Land Spreading
Composting
Composting is nature's own and oldest method of waste disposal and soil fertilisation. Compost forms as a result of the natural breakdown of organic material derived from living animals and plants. This decomposition is largely aerobic i.e. the bacteria, fungi, insects and animals, which inhabit soil require oxygen to break down the organic material. In a compost heap these organisms generate heat as they decompose organic matter and break it into usable trace elements.
Land Spreading
Food wastes, effluent treatment sludge and other liquids are recycled to agricultural land which provides agricultural benefit through the addition of nutrients.
This not only provides our clients with a cost effective, environmentally responsible disposal route but provides nutritional benefit to the receiving soil.
